Hi,

Is anyone planning on riding in December? I ride everyday to work but was wondering if anyone is interested in a ride. The only day I can make a longer ride is a week from this Saturday or Sunday. Since it is getting close to Xmas I will be busy after the next weekend. I'm sure that any rides that happen this month will probably just be informal rides. If anyone is interested in a ride next Saturday, Dec 13th, I would be up for something. Just let me know.

Also, who all are ...

After trying for months to see if this new format and location would work well for our group, from the feedback, it seems that it doesn't.

So, in order to satisfy the requests and encourage more online participation, the old yahoo groups site has been re-opened for posting. To find it, go to groups.yahoo.com and search for BayAreaMaxiRiders.

This site will still remain up for a while to allow people time to move back to the Yahoo Groups location.

Hope that this works better ...

I know I asked this before, but can't find the post, but who would be interested in trying an Iron Butt ride? It is 1,000 miles in 24 hours so it would be best to just ride up I-5 or another interstate. I think Scott said he was interested and a few others said no. I just figure if we want to do this we may want to think about this before December.

On our last ride we spoke about the group name and address. So Scott and I have traded emails back and forth about new names and here is the one we liked best that seems to be available. The reason we are asking this is because the "www.bamr.heavenforum.com" seemed to be a long name that didn't really make sense. The name that is available that we both liked most is:

www.bayareariders.com

I think we can get this name/address too, since this site has a section that ...

In the past four weeks, I've sold our Hobbi Toy Hauler, my Piaggio MP3 and, today, I sold--and delivered to Oakland--my Atlantic! You'll be pleased to know that I only own my (Alain's "old") '08 Burgman, and of course, my wife still has her MP3, which I actuall enjoyed riding this afternoon.

I'm very happy with the Burgman, and believe that it'll be my only bike for years to come.

Vespa 250GT wobble

My new GT 250 Vespa wobbles around 30 mph. Vendor gave me some weights to put on the end of the handlebars. That helped but there's still a distinct wobble at that speed. I'm wondering if this is endemic to all new Vespas of my model and don't know where to go from here. Anyone else suffering this malady, or heard about it? I'm more concerned about safety than anything else and the vendor won't help.

Thanks in advance for any input.

In the 7 months since I bought it I have come to realize that there are several reasons for me to sell it:

It is a little too heavy for me

The closest repair shop is not at all convenient

    I bought Gene's 2005 Burgman 400

It has never been down, has the warrenty work done and 5 months left on warrenty, and I have added a backrest and luggage rack.

So it you know anyone who is interested, just let me know.

I designed an inexpensive turn-signal beeper a few years ago. If you can solder, you can make it for about $5 worth of Radio Shack parts. Since then another fellow has used my design and is selling the same thing on EBay for $25.

I love this guy. It's not as good as self-canceling turn signals, but it does remind my ancient brain to cancel them after I've made the turn. It is loud enough that I can hear it even at slower speeds on the freeway with my helmet. But on the city streets the sound ...

I put this up in the Honda forum, but in case some Silverwing riders don't get there--I never do, for example--I still have 4 of the Silverwing patches. I have sold all the rest. These patches cost $12 when I first got them, then the second order was $10.

I thought I had gotten rid of them all a year ago, but found an envelope with 29 more in my storage. Now that I've recovered my cost, I am asking only $7. I got rid of all except these 4 on the Yahoo Silverwing group. These are very high ...

For all of you who missed the Blue Knights Ride this past week-end in Reno, you missed a ride of a lifetime. On Saturday we could choose between a 250 or 500 mile ride. John and I chose the 250 and were we glad. We left the Peppermill about 7AM. We rode North on 395 and took 70 West. We rode on tiny back roads to La Porte, Bullards Barr, etc. Everyone agreed it was tiring but the most beautiful ride that any of us had ridden.

We were all given great T Shirts and John won the most bugs ...

I tend to put single, large orders together and get it all once.

Maybe I can make the 9th. Or we could even try a Sunday? More possibilities..more rides? Any who....that's my 2 cents. And if y'all pick a day I can't make, no biggie as I need to go with the majority votes! Take care all.....

Part of my back way route is to go on Highway 84 behind Livermore, up and over Pigeon Pass and down to the 680 intersection on the other side. Well, I had a surprise today when I was approaching the pass area, the new, re-routed road is fully in place and traffic has been completely re-routed off of the old road.

I must admit I don't even know what this is, so I have no idea how critical it is. Is this really important to do, or is this one of those things that doesn' have to be done precisely at this mileage marker? Has anyone done it? How did it go? (Don't worry. It wouldn't be me doing the actual work.) Any input/advice here would be appreciated. I still have about 1500 ...

Hi Jeff, here is one answer to your questions about the weather here in the valley and foothills. I've lived here in Tracy since 2000. (moved from Fremont) It gets very warm in the summer here, many times in triple digits, but...this year it's been mostly cooler than average here, and it also depends on what day you go riding. It could be decently nice or very hot. We will have to watch the extended forcast to really know. Best idea I think is be prepared, because sometimes it's just as warm ...
